USPS Price Adjustments Went Into Effect on July 13, 2025

USPS Price Adjustments Went Into Effect on July 13, 2025 The latest rate changes by the United States Postal Service (USPS) went into effect on July 13, 2025. Rates for many package weights and delivery zones have increased. However, the USPS has reduced rates for Zones 1–4 and Zone 8 for certain package weights.

In the spring of 2025, the USPS announced its mailing and shipping price adjustments as part of its “Delivering for America” plan, a 10-year strategic initiative designed to achieve financial sustainability and service excellence. The plan’s main aim is to provide the USPS with the necessary revenue while keeping prices competitive. The Postal Regulatory Commission approved the adjustments, which went into effect on July 13.

As a result of the USPS’s price adjustments, domestic and international mailing prices increased by approximately 7.4%.

  • 1-ounce letters increased from 73 to 78 cents
  • Metered 1-ounce letters increased from 69 to 74 cents
  • Domestic postcards increased from 56 to 61 cents
  • International postcards and 1-ounce international letters increased from $1.65 to $1.70

Additionally, the price of each additional ounce of a single-piece letter increased from 28 to 29 cents. Meanwhile, the cost of postal insurance for mailed items decreased by 12%.

Prices for domestic shipping were raised by approximately 7.1% for USPS Ground Advantage and by approximately 6.3% for Priority Mail, while Priority Mail Express prices remained unchanged.

However, these are average price changes. The adjustments depend on the zone and weight of the package, so they are more complicated than that. For example, the price to ship a Priority Mail package to Zone 5 increased by 20.88%, while Zones 1-4 and 8 saw decreases of up to 6.5%. As for USPS Ground Advantage, prices increased for packages weighing 1-16 oz but remained unchanged for packages weighing 1-20 lbs.
